Charlene Houston

I am a heritage professional who finds herself working on various legacy projects of South Africans who have contributed to our democracy.  It is an honour to contribute to the legacy of my comrade, Aadil Moerat, whom I knew as a fellow youth during the liberation struggle.  Aadil’s father gave me a chance to complete my school education at South Peninsula High after I was expelled for being an activist and then gave me the registration fees to start my tertiary study. Considering his investment in my future, it’s an absolute honour to be serving his vision for this initiative.

I hold a Masters Degree in Public and Visual History, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a Post Graduate Diploma in Heritage Management.

I have many years of administrative and strategic leadership experience, having served on other governing bodies of non-profits and working in managerial roles, for over 40 years.
