Our Track Record

“Dr Moerat chose to set up his practice where the need was great. Community service was very important to him and remains important to the Trust”.
Dehran Swart, Chairperson
The Trust was first established as a Bursary Fund in 1998 in memory of Dr Aadil Moerat.
Dr Moerat was a general practitioner who lost his life tragically while working in Gugulethu, Cape Town, on 21 January 1998. Dr Moerat was an ex-student of South Peninsula High School where his father had also been school principal. His father formed the bursary fund committee with other staff members of SPHS(South Peninsula High School). The Bursary Award would be a lasting tribute to a young man who epitomised the spirit of the school motto: Non ministrari, sed ministrare (Not to be served, but to serve).
